Free Technical Advisory Service
Fabsec Ltd, the UK’s leading supplier of long span cellular steel beams, with 40,000 tonnes per year
manufactured under license in the UK alone, has improved its free Technical Advisory Service for Consulting
Engineers.
The Technical Advisory Service has been augmented to include 3 new capabilities - a Call Me service
(to request a technical discussion), a Live Chat service (to solve a problem through a web chat ) and a number of
video Tutorials with voice on how best to use the FBEAM software. The latter being excellent for a new user or

As well as phone, fax and email support, we have added beam design forms online with a 24 hour response
time. The service includes optimised designs from Fabsec’s Advisory Engineers, who can also offer
visits, seminars and advice on installation and use of Fabsec’s revolutionary FBEAM2006 beam design
software.
The online forms allow users to enter details of secondary floor or roof beams. The beam data is
automatically emailed directly to our Leeds based Advisory Engineers who will return an optimised design as
soon as possible. Alternatively, should you require a complete project or more complex beam designs then
you can fax, post or email your project details to our Leeds head office. You can also call our Technical
Advisory Department, directly on 0845 094 2530 for help on any queries you may have.
Fabsec designs are used typically for primary and secondary floor beams and rafters and are available in
normal and fire-engineered options for up to 2 hours fire resistance. Beams are purpose-made to match
applied loads and designed to ensure optimum efficiency and architectural freedom. Cellular and bespoke web
openings can be positioned to suit services. The flexibility of the possible cell geometry and positioning
is unparalleled.
The software was first developed in conjunction with the Steel Construction Institute and is now accredited
by FEDRA, a division of Buro Happold.
FBEAM2006 incorporates Beam Wizard, a unique beam optimisation function that at the push of a button allows
design engineers to automatically compare multiple beam designs in seconds to produce the most economical
option, based either on the least mass or lowest cost.
