Manufacturing Capabilities
FABSEC® has a licensed manufacturing capacity in excess
of 60,000 tonnes per annum. The two fabricators are Severfield
Reeve Structures ltd, a Severfield-Rowen plc group company and
Cellbeam Ltd, a subsidiary of William Hare Ltd. Through these
modern, low-cost manufacturing plants Fabsec offers not only
stringent quality assurance and customer focus, but also an
innovative product range.
Through significant and strategic investments FABSEC® beams are
manufactured using the UK's most modern beam welding capability.
The plate feedstock goes through web and flange profiling equipment
during which the cells are cut and the pre-camber formed.
The webs and flanges are shot-blasted and then joined using
submerged-arc, wholly automatic welding. Fire protection can be
applied as an optional final process in factory-controlled
conditions.
FABSEC's production capabilities permit the manufacture of a
wide variety of section sizes, spans and configuration. Plate
thicknesses ranging from 6mm to 100mm can be accommodated.
Manufacture utilises highly efficient CNC machines which boast
rapid production speed - the welding time for a typical web to
flange weld exceeds 1 metre per minute. Unlike some alternatives,
manual welding is only ever required for unusual shaped beams and
for fittings - the main 'carcass' of the beam is machine welded to
a very high level of quality.
